I've found that I've been drinking *alot* less coffee since I've been on the SLD.

This is a good thing for me, since I drink too much anyway.

You can read about my thoughts on this here: http://lightalan.blogspot.com/2008/11/too-much-joe.html

I'm VeganKitten on the SLD boards ...
Welcome back!

I can relate to weight loss not even being on the radar. I went through major depression (almost hospitalized) many years ago, and I didn't even relate to my body as ME.

There's some fascinating research being done about the power of exercise to rewire our brains, the book "Spark" by Dr. John Ratey details a lot of it.

I'm still on anti-depressant medication, but weaning off it VERY VERY slowly, while adding more exercise to the mix. This seems to be working really well.

May you have ever increasing peace of mind as you recover.

Omigod, I had this exact same experience a few months ago looking at old pics from childhood through college. I have always felt fat, but except for a brief period (maybe age 9-13, the awkward years) I wasn't even really that chubby. So sad!

Anyway, I also wanted to let you know how much I'm enjoying your blog and identifying with a lot of the stuff here. I started SLD a few days ago and have been reading through your archives for advice and inspiration. Thank you for so diliently documenting this!

Heh, glad to serve as lab rat! Good luck with the Xylitol and ya, I think starting out with a smaller dose than my mad-scientist amount is a really, really good idea! ;-)

Thanks for reading, that really encourages me.

Hi kimBoo, altho this is my first comment on your blog, I do read it regularly and enjoy it!

Thanks for being a xylitol guinea pig : ) ... I'm going to try it, too. (For the same reasons we've been discussing on Seth's boards)

Great to hear that it seems to give good AS.

And hell, if it gives me the runs ... well there's a certain psychological boost from the associated drop on the scale. Which wouldn't be unwelcome for me, as I'm up a few pounds :/

...but maybe I won't take quite so much, the first time.
